Individual Counselling

Starting Counselling

Counselling can be helpful at times when life feels particularly difficult. It also offers an opportunity to better understand yourself and make sense of what is going on. Some people start counselling with a specific issue they want to work on, while others simply feel that something isn't quite right. Counselling can help with a range of issues such as anxiety, stress, depression, bereavement, trauma, low self-esteem, loss of confidence, health-related issues and questions around identity.

Whether you know exactly what you'd like to work on or you're not quite sure where to start, reaching out can feel like a big step. To help with this, I offer a free initial consultation.

Initial Consultation

This free 30-minute telephone consultation is a chance for you to tell me a little about what's brought you to counselling, ask any questions you may have, and get a feel for whether I'm the right counsellor for you.

What to Expect

How I Work

I use an integrative model which means that I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches and adapt them to suit your individual needs. Sessions are collaborative, so we'll take the time to explore what's happening for you, reflect on your experiences, and find practical ways forward. I believe that relationship is at the heart of the process and therefore the values that underpin my approach are empathy, authenticity and compassion.

Practical arrangements

I offer counselling in person at my practice in Manchester city centre, by telephone and online via Zoom.

Sessions usually take place on a weekly basis, although fortnightly or monthly appointments may be appropriate depending on your needs and circumstances. They are arranged at a mutually convenient time and last 50 minutes. I offer both short and long-term therapy, and we can discuss what might be most helpful during the initial consultation.

Sessions and Fees

Free initial consultation (up to 30 minutes, by telephone)

If you're unsure whether your policy covers counselling, it's worth checking directly with your provider.
