Counselling and Supervision in Manchester and Online

My Story

Portrait of Susan Carr

My first experience of counselling was as a client. At the time, I was working as a commercial litigation solicitor and going through a period of work-related stress.

I had never really considered therapy as a career, but I found myself wondering whether I could use my listening skills to help people in a different way. I continued working in law for a couple more years, but once the seed was planted, the idea of becoming a counsellor stayed with me so I decided to retrain, qualifying in 2012.

I've since gained over thirteen years of experience working across private practice, the NHS, an occupational health company, and as an Adoption Support Counsellor for a charitable organisation. I'm also an affiliate counsellor for several Employee Assistance Programmes, and I facilitate a monthly bereavement support group.

Since 2024, I have also been working as a clinical supervisor, supporting other counsellors and professionals in their practice.
